First Visit

Paperwork

Before coming in for your first visit, we ask that you fill out new patient paperwork that will be emailed to you upon setting up an appointment. The paperwork includes a patient profile, medical intake, notice of privacy practices, and consent form. This paperwork provides us with general information about you and your condition on which Dr. Kopcio will build a case during the initial consultation. Additionally, it informs you about how we maintain your privacy and the different services offered by Dr. Kopcio.

Initial Consultation

This is a crucial aspect of naturopathic health care because it is through this consultation that Dr. Kopcio will offer you, the patient, the ability to express your condition in a way that lends insight into the potential underlying causes of a disease process. During this consultation, Dr. Kopcio will gather/refine information about your health concern and medical history through individualized questioning. Based of the involved nature of this consult, you should expect it to take up to 90 minutes.

Physical Examination and Laboratory Studies

Following the medical intake, Dr. Kopcio will perform a physical examination which will include a series of tests in-office to determine which body systems may be affected, and to what extent. He may also recommend medical laboratory tests to further evaluate the patient's current state of health. He utilizes both conventional and specialized medical testing options depending on the case. Both the physical exam and lab studies can help aid in making an appropriate diagnosis which is critical for proper and effective treatment.

Treatment

Before treating a patient, Dr. Kopcio explains his assessment of your case and recommended plan of action. Based upon your discussion, he will develop a specific plan to meet your individual needs. Depending on the nature of the case, Dr. Kopcio may treat on the same day and/or wait until a more definitive diagnosis can be made. In-office treatment options include acupuncture, cupping, physiotherapy, musculoskeletal adjustments, and regenerative injection therapy. Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on how to follow-up with these procedures at home. This may include ice/heat application, avoidance of certain activities or positions, home exercises and/or stretches, as well as diet/lifestyle changes. Additional supplementation and/or medicines may also be prescribed.

Follow-Up Appointment

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Depending on the type of case, patients are seen within 1-4 weeks of the initial consult for discussing response to preliminary treatment, test results, and/or a comprehensive treatment plan. Timing can vary from 30-60 minutes depending on what's involved.
